Maurice Braun
Maurice Braun was born in Hungary, and immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 3. After 6 years of study at the National Academy of Design in New York and with William Merritt Chase, Braun established himself as portrait and figure painter in there. In 1910 Braun moved to San Diego, California, and two years later established the San Diego Academy of Art. A near pure Impressionist, Braun's deep belief in the Theosophical Movement’s unity of nature and man is evident in his San Diego era landscapes.
