Jules Pages (1867-1946)

A native of San Francisco, Jules Pages worked as an apprentice engraver in his fatherís business. Pages left for France at the age of 21 to study at the Academie Julian. Pages returned to Paris in 1902, this time as a teacher and director of the same Academie. Pages would spend 40 years in France but returned frequently to San Francisco to paint and exhibit his works. Following the outbreak of WW II, Pages returned to the states for good. Jules Eugene Pages died in San Francisco on May 22, 1946.
