Clark Hobart (1868-1948)

Clark Hobart was born in Rockville, Illinois in 1868 and moved with his family to California as a small boy. He studied at the San Francisco School of Design, the Art Students League and in Paris, France. Hobart worked as an art editor in New York from 1903 until his move to Monterey, California in 1911 where he was able to focus on his Impressionist landscapes and portraits. Hobart remained active in Northern California for the remainder of his life with homes and studios in San Francisco, Monterey and Los Gatos.
